The HUEX Gravel Ride is a self-supported long-distance event, designed for cyclists seeking a true adventure experience over a route of more than 500 kilometres.

This is a non-stop trek in which each participant manages their own pace, rest periods, nutrition and strategy, operating on a self-supported basis.

It’s not a traditional ride.
It’s not a race with outside support.
It’s gravel riding in its purest form.

HUEX MANIFESTO

HUEX Gravel Ride

We believe in gravel as a form of freedom.
Not as a trend. Not as a spectacle. Real freedom.

We believe in moving through open territory, discovering forgotten roads, and riding with nothing but the sound of gravel beneath our wheels.

We believe in self-reliance.
In personal responsibility.
In every cyclist’s ability to decide their own pace, when to rest, and their strategy.

We believe that adventure doesn’t need the limelight.
It needs honesty.

The HUEX Gravel Ride isn’t a traditional race.
It’s a shared adventure where respect comes before results.

Respect for the land.
Respect for the communities we pass through.
Respect for those cycling alongside us.
Respect for oneself.

It’s not the fastest who wins here.
It’s the one who understands the way.

We champion exploration as a form of sport.
Community as a value.
Nature as a priority.
Experience as a goal.

The land does not belong to us. It is lent to us.
Our duty is to pass through it without leaving a trace.

This is HUEX.

HUEX Gravel Ride will start and finish in the town of Cartaya.
The event will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 13, and the finish line will remain open until 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 15.

HUEX Gravel Ride is not designed as a direct competition between riders, but as an individual challenge.

Each rider must complete the route by following the official track, relying exclusively on resources that are publicly available along the course (shops, restaurants, accommodation, water points, bike shops, etc.), without any personalised external support.

Each participant decides:

  • When to stop.

  • When to sleep.

  • How to plan their strategy.

  • What equipment to carry.

  • How to manage their effort.

The objective is to complete the route within the maximum time limit established by the organisation.

The HUEX Gravel Ridewill start and finish in the town of El Rompido, Cartaya, Huelva.

The race will start on Friday at 10.00 am and the finish line will close on Sunday at 5.00 pm.

The course has been designed to provide a demanding yet balanced experience, where endurance, decision-making and adaptability make the difference.

This is not simply about covering kilometres.
It is about taking on a route with character, variety and a unique identity.

The HUEX Gravel Ride is a self-supported event.
For this reason, there are no traditional refreshment stations organised by the event organisers.

Each participant is fully responsible for their own nutrition, hydration and race strategy throughout the more than 500 km route.

However, in order to ensure rider tracking, safety and the proper operation of the event, the organisation will establish three official Check Points along the course.

At each Check Point:

  • Rider passage will be verified through chip timing.

  • Passage times will be recorded.

  • Safety monitoring will be carried out.

  • Compliance with the official route will be verified.

Passing through all official Check Points is mandatory in order to be recognised as an official finisher.

HUEX Gravel Ride allows every participant complete freedom to manage their pace, rest periods and riding strategy.

However, as this is a long-distance event crossing remote and environmentally sensitive areas, the organisation will establish official cut-off times at the Check Points, as well as an overall time limit for completing the route.

  1. CP1 –
  2. CP2 –
  3. CP3 –

These limits are not intended to influence each rider’s strategy, but to ensure the safety of participants and the operational viability of the event.

Each of the three Check Points will have an official cut-off time.

This means that:

  • Participants are free to manage their time as they wish.

  • They may stop, rest, sleep or continue riding according to their own strategy.

  • However, they must reach each Check Point before its designated closing time.

The purpose of these cut-off points is to:

  • Ensure that no participant falls excessively behind in remote areas.

  • Guarantee the operational coverage of the event.

  • Allow for safe and effective rider tracking.

  • Maintain the logistical balance of the safety and support system.

Any participant who fails to reach a Check Point before the official cut-off time will not be recognised as an official finisher.

HUEX Gravel Ride is a fully self-supported event.

Each participant is responsible for their own safety, decisions and logistical management throughout the entire route.

In the event of withdrawal, this philosophy remains unchanged.

WITHDRAWAL DECISION

A participant may choose to withdraw from the event at any time for physical, mechanical or strategic reasons.

Withdrawal is a personal decision and must be made with judgement and responsibility.

The organisation does not penalise withdrawal, but requires it to be managed correctly.

MANDATORY NOTIFICATION

In the event of withdrawal, the participant must:

  • Immediately inform the organisation.

  • Communicate their exact location.

  • Confirm that they are in a safe situation.

  • Follow the instructions provided by the organisation.

Failure to notify withdrawal is considered a serious breach, as it may trigger unnecessary search and safety protocols.

Communication is mandatory.

RETURN LOGISTICS

HUEX Gravel Ride is a fully self-supported event.

In the Event of Withdrawal:

  • Participants are responsible for arranging their own return.

  • They may use public transport or any services that are publicly available along the route.

  • The organisation will not provide rider pick-up or transportation services.

The organisation will only intervene in the event of a genuine emergency that compromises the participant’s safety or wellbeing.

EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

If a participant withdraws due to an accident or an urgent medical situation:

  • The emergency protocol will be activated.

  • The necessary emergency services will be coordinated.

  • The participant must remain reachable at all times.

Any misuse of the emergency protocol may result in penalties or disqualification.

CHIP & TRACKING

In the Event of Withdrawal:

  • Participants must return the tracking device (if applicable).

  • Or follow the instructions provided for its recovery.

Active tracking remains mandatory until the organisation officially confirms the participant’s withdrawal.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

By taking part in the HUEX Gravel Ride, participants acknowledge and accept that:

  • This is not an event with continuous assistance.

  • There is no permanent sweep vehicle.

  • Self-sufficiency is part of the challenge.

  • Withdrawal must also be managed responsibly.

Self-reliance does not end when you decide to stop riding.

THE HUEX SPIRIT

The Ride is a demanding experience.
Knowing how to stop is also part of the challenge.

But doing so correctly is mandatory.

REAL AUTONOMY

The HUEX Gravel Ride is a self-supported event.
Each participant is responsible for their own safety, self-sufficiency and ability to manage the event over the course of the 500+ km route.

The following equipment must be carried at all times during the event.
The organisers may carry out random checks at the start and at checkpoints.

La HUEX Gravel Ride atraviesa zonas remotas donde:

  • Mobile phone coverage may not always be available.

  • Services may not always be nearby.

  • Weather conditions can change.

  • Nights can be cold.

The material isn’t just a formality.
It’s part of the challenge.

PARTICIPANT’S RESPONSIBILITY

Each participant should assess their experience and physical fitness before setting off.

The organisers may extend the mandatory list if weather or ground conditions so require.

Self-sufficiency requires preparation.
