Art.1 ORGANIZATION

The HUEX MTB race is organized by TerraIncognita Global SL.

Art.2 RACE

The HUEX MTB is a mountain biking competition that takes place in the province of Huelva.

The HUEX MTB features two modalities: EXTREME and MARATHON.

The HUEX EXTREME will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Aracena, covering a distance of 168 km. The race STARTS at 7:45 AM from the Aracena fairgrounds. The FINISH LINE is in Huelva capital and will remain open until 8:30 PM.

The HUEX MARATHON is a less physically demanding modality, taking place on Saturday, March 15, 2024, in Huelva, covering a distance of 88 km. The race STARTS at 10:00 AM from the municipality of Berrocal. The FINISH LINE is in Huelva capital and will remain open until 8:30 PM.

Art.3 SPORTSMANSHIP AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT

The HUEX MTB is held with absolute respect for the environment.

Participants must respect the environment where the race takes place and keep the area clean. They must eat and drink WITHOUT LEAVING ANY CONTAINERS OUTSIDE THE DESIGNATED RECYCLING BINS.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION of the participant, which can be enforced based on the testimony of any member of the race’s organizing team.

Participants displaying violent behavior or littering in nature will be disqualified from the competition. It is mandatory to respect crops, livestock, and private property in general.

Participants will be held responsible for any damage caused as a result of such behavior.

Receiving external aid or refreshments outside the designated supply points set by the Organization is strictly prohibited. These points will coincide with the race’s official aid stations.

Art.4 PARTICIPATION AND REGISTRATION

Participation in the HUEX EXTREME requires participants to be of legal age (18 years old) on the day of the race and no older than 75 years. The HUEX MARATHON modality is open to participants aged 15 and older, provided they are licensed and have parental or guardian authorization.

Participation is open to all individuals who correctly complete both the REGISTRATION and payment process.

To compete in HUEX MTB, participants must possess an annual UCI license issued by a national cycling federation. If it is not the RFEC, they must present identification and an authorization from the relevant federation indicating they are covered by their home country’s insurance.

Participants without a license must obtain a one-day license issued by the Andalusian Cycling Federation at an additional cost of €10 during registration. Those with a Cyclotourist License who wish to compete for rankings and prizes must also pay for the one-day license.

Cyclotourist participants must hold a Cyclotourist License. If they do not have one, they must pay for a one-day license at a cost of €10 during registration.

Registration fees are published in the REGISTRATION section.

Registering for the HUEX MTB implies acceptance of the rules and the participant’s proper preparation for the race, being aware of the geographical and meteorological conditions that may be encountered during the event. In this regard, the participant releases the Organization from any health issues that may arise from participating in the HUEX MTB.

Participants understand that they are voluntarily participating at their own risk, thereby exonerating the Organization from any liability and agreeing not to take legal action against the organizing entity, collaborators, sponsors, or other participants, nor file any civil liability claims against them.

Art. 5 REGISTRATION REFUND

Once registration is completed, a 50% refund will only be issued up to 30 days before the event. After this date, no refund will be processed without cancellation insurance.

With cancellation insurance, only requests submitted up to 15 days before the event will be accepted.

All refunds will be processed within 30 days from the acceptance of the request.

Once a withdrawal request is processed, the spot is made available to the Organization, which will assign it to the first candidate on the waiting list.

Art.6 RACE NUMBERS

Race numbers and participant kits can only be collected at the designated site during the specified hours. For those unable to collect their number on Friday, a tent will be set up at the START area on Saturday from 6:30 to 7:30 AM for HUEX EXTREME participants and from 8:30 to 9:30 AM for HUEX MARATHON participants.

Participants must wear their race number throughout the entire race, always visible on the front of their bike.

Each race number is personal and non-transferable. It can only be collected by the registered participant or a third party presenting an express authorization from the participant along with a photocopy of their ID or passport.

Each participant will be assigned a race number, determined randomly, except for the first numbers, which will be assigned by the Organization.

Art.7 MANDATORY TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT

The use of a helmet is mandatory throughout the race, as well as carrying a mobile phone with a fully charged battery.

A front and rear light is mandatory from 5:30 PM onwards. This can either be carried from the start or handed over by a companion during the race.

Additionally, the Organization recommends participants carry the following:

  • Water bottles or hydration packs with a minimum total capacity of 1L.

  • Sunglasses and cycling gloves.

  • Sunscreen (total protection).

  • Electrolytes and/or mineral salts.

  • Food reserves (energy bars, gels, fruit, etc.).

  • A suitable backpack for carrying race equipment.

  • Spare parts for punctures.

  • Cash and/or a credit card for unforeseen situations.

  • A GPS device for navigation.

Art.8 CHECKPOINTS, AID STATIONS, AND ASSISTANCE

The race route will be marked with chalk, tape, and specific signage for the event. The official race roadbook will be published on the race’s official website. Any changes or modifications will be announced through the same channels.

Each participant must follow the marked course without skipping any signs and must pass through all checkpoints.

Receiving external aid or refreshments outside the designated aid stations provided by the Organization is strictly prohibited. These stations will coincide with the official race aid stations. Similarly, participants are prohibited from being accompanied by anyone who is not a registered participant in the race.

Each aid station will have a specific closing time. Participants must reach each station before its closing time to continue in the race.

Each aid station will provide food and beverages that vary depending on the distance marker. Participants must consume enough at the station to maintain adequate energy reserves for the next segment, except for water, which can also be refilled in personal tanks or hydration packs.

To use the aid station, it is mandatory to wear the race number.

Art.9 START PROCEDURE

The race will be organized by categories with two separate starts.

Different starting boxes will be arranged based on the number of participants and the mode of participation.

A priority starting grid will be created for the most outstanding participants, at the discretion of the Organization.

For the RELAY modality, the second team member must wait for their teammate at the designated relay area near the aid station. Handing off the relay while the bicycles are in motion is strictly prohibited.

Art.10 AUTHORIZED VEHICLES

The only vehicles allowed to follow the race will be those accredited by the Organization. Following participants with any type of motorized vehicle or wheeled transport (skates, bicycles, etc.) is strictly prohibited, and the Local Police have explicit instructions to remove unauthorized vehicles from the race circuit.

A sweep vehicle will follow the last participants, collecting those who are unable or unwilling to continue the race. Participants who cannot maintain the designated pace or meet the checkpoint closing times must board the sweep vehicle or withdraw from the event following the instructions of an Organization member.

Art.11 BAG TRANSPORTATION AND CLOAKROOM SERVICE

All participants in HUEX Extreme and Marathon can deposit their cloakroom bags, provided by the Organization upon race number collection, containing items they wish to retrieve at the finish line.

Bags must be placed inside the official race-provided bags and clearly labeled with the participant’s race number.

Participants may access the start area with their bag and warm clothing. The Organization will collect all bags from the starting areas 10 minutes before the race begins to prevent participant cooling.

Only the official bags distributed with race numbers will be accepted in the cloakroom service.

Art.12 MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND EMERGENCIES

Throughout the event, multiple medical and security teams will be present and coordinated with emergency services (112) via the HUEX MTB central command.

These teams will be positioned at various aid stations, and participants can request assistance if needed.

Medical checks may be conducted at specific locations. Refusing a medical check or disrespecting a medical staff member will result in immediate disqualification.

Participants must comply with medical staff assessments at all times. The medical team has the authority to:

  • Remove a participant from the race (by invalidating their race number) if deemed unfit to continue.

  • Order the evacuation of any participant they consider at risk.

  • Order hospitalization when necessary.

Art.13 WITHDRAWALS

Withdrawals must take place at designated Checkpoints. If a participant is injured or unable to reach a checkpoint, they must activate the rescue operation by calling the emergency phone number provided on the race number.

Once at an aid station, the participant must inform the station manager of their withdrawal, who will then invalidate their race number and mark them as withdrawn.

Only designated Withdrawal Control Points will have transportation available to evacuate withdrawn participants.

If a participant chooses to leave the race by their own means, they must still inform the aid station manager to avoid being marked as missing and triggering a rescue operation.

Art.14 COURSE MODIFICATIONS OR RACE CANCELLATION

In the event of adverse weather conditions or force majeure, the Organization reserves the right to suspend, neutralize, or modify the race schedule and/or route without any obligation to issue refunds.

Art.15 PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATIONS
